Then there may be an issue with installations in other languages? My suggestion would always be: Get a US version and apply language packs. Never had any issues using DISM as long as you use the the tool properly. I tried using MCT media but I got nothing but errors and the job would never complete.

I’ve been dealing with that problem for months on end! I have tried using both MCT and TechBench, and in both cases the commands worked flawlessly, but I’m glad that you found one that worked. I have updated the article to reflect that you can also use TechBench to download the Windows 10 ISO, which might help other people as well. I’m having issues with the store, it doesn’t start. I have tried this but nothing seems to work, no Gears of War to Download.

The store started doing the same thing under my son’s account. I tried to rename his profile and create a new one, but I couldn’t rename it, even after killing all tasks and services possible. Resetting the PC while keeping files didn’t work failed to reset and MS support was completely useless during the whole process of trying to fix the problem.

I needed up reimaging the entire machine, all because one app, the store, wouldn’t open. There isn’t anything that fixes the store when it gets into a funk. What’s worse is that pretty much all the fixes on the internet are based on older builds of W10 and if you use them they do more damage. I got over 30 updates on apps that I couldn’t install, got fed up and blew away my install to start fresh. Yup, there isn’t anyway to reinstall the store when the restore points, dism and sfc tools fail.

I think the powershell command is what fixes it. Thanks for the tips. I feel ready for my MS certification exam. Here’s hoping I didn’t waste bucks by basing all my answers on this one article.

I jest. But this is good to know. Too many “repiar”. Ya, repiar even in its command line. I lost it forever : Power shell has ruined it. Or im just simply a noob. That is, unless you’re on W10 Server or W10 Pro. If you’re using an anti-virus or security suite that has any kind of active file system protection, you might want to consider going into the options menu to temporariliy turn off the file system protection as it might interfere with either DISM or SFC while they’re running.

My surface P4 had issues from the start. Mail and store app crashed. Sfc didn’t work. Restore twice with no luck. Ran ccleaner and everything I working perfect now. A very useful article. Thanks to windows central. To resolve this problem, use the System Update Readiness tool. After I minimized the window and reopened, the message was there saying the scan finished without a problem. Still, my PC won’t start.. I don’t know why this happened to it.

The problem started after I restarted the PC, but I often did and the windows version was the newest. I used a pre-installed software called “HP Power AC” or something that let’s you keep your battery low even when the PC is connected to the adapter.

It was before I restarted the PC. Do you think it caused the issue? Lakonst October 9, pm. Elizabeth September 17, pm. I got error 50 again. Lakonst September 18, am. Chris February 21, pm. Hello, First let me say this is a fantastic resource: Thank you. I have tried every built-in option to recover and repair my Windows 10 laptop. I even had problems booting directly into command mode. I can not longer even boot into safe mode.

I found your blog and I verified windows is on drive: C:: and ran: dism. It completed quickly with “error: 23” I checked the syntax and retried: no change. I have been very careful to check my syntax for typos. I’m still having fun trying to fix this, but have been working on it for days. Again: I have tried every option from within W10, even trying to boot with the Windows media creation tool from a flash drive.

It goes into the endless repair loop “Can’t repair” , unsuccessful, etc etc. Any ideas? I’m thinking either the drive or motherboard is the culprit. Earlier safe mode scans with Kaspersky, MalwareBytes and the Kaspersky Malicious Software removal tool turned up nothing.

Make sure that the image path and the Windows directory for the image exist and you have Read permissions on the folder……. Lakonst February 22, am. I believe that the drive is damaged.

Can you please help me here. Lakonst June 27, pm. Make sure that you use the correct USB Windows installation media according your Windows edition and architecture. Jesse June 28, am. Yes I created the usb media with Windows 10 64bit, but it seem that it doesn’t allow the user to reinstall over your existing system to just fix windows, you can only do that after loading Windows…with this offline option it is only to remove partitions and do a complete reinstall?

Any ideas on the other commands? Lakonst June 29, am. Jim July 12, am. Exe From Windows Recovery Mode?
